DECOLONIAL FEMINISM(S)

Emotionally Engaged Pedagogy

  • Spirit(s) / emotions / affect / sensations hold wisdom. We honor them by making space for them as they guide us in our decolonial journey(s).

  • We have inherited trauma from our ancestors, but we have also inherited love,  resistance, and dignity. However, historical oppression (e.g. racism, anti-Blackness, sexism, capitalism, ableism, etc) impacts us on an everyday basis. Our bodies hold on to the stress, tension, pain, and sacrifices that result from living in contexts of (neo)colonial and settler violence(s). Thus, this class takes a healing-centered approach, allowing us to discuss unpleasant content (e.g., patriarchal violence) from a place of love, accountability, and joy.

  • Musica, baile, meditation, prayer, and other practices that feed our spirits and bodies are welcome!
